Franklin County, Virginia has long been known as the Moonshine Capital of the World. For over 100 years, the local residents of Franklin County have been cranking out moonshine on an industrial scale. The largest moonshine busts in the nation’s history were all done in the area. During prohibition, it was said that 99 out of 100 of the county’s residents were involved in the moonshine trade. You can walk up any creek and find the remains of an old moonshine still.

 

This site is a celebration of the moonshine history and the culture the grew out of the trade.
